Published November 2006! Beautiful Land Across the Waters, a new memoir of Chincoteague by Virginia Aten Pritchett. Illustrated by Vonnie Winslow Crist. $9.95.

Alan C. Reese of Abecedarian Books describes Beautiful Land Across the Waters as follows: "This wonderful memoir spans two decades of “long vacation” summers spent in Chincoteague. It is filled with the flora and fauna and people and special places that make a good geographic location unique, and, when mixed with experience, get into our blood and become a part of us. The journal entry format makes this a personal glimpse into the heart and mind of the writer whose personal and introspective observations, descriptions of her natural surroundings, and literary reflections create a portrait of an intelligent and thoughtful individual wrestling with the change and permanence, loss and gain, tragic and comic; in short, the ebb and flow of life."
